In talking about lived reality we might begin by speaking about contexts, surroundings, environments, and that we live | behave | respond | exist in contexts of which we are but dimly aware.

Why bring this up here? Where are we going with this?

Contexts are those surrounding that make us make sense. This is a hopelessly vague statement as there

I want to extend the notion of contexts not as a certain situation in which "we" (defined independently of the context) find ourselves, but as kinds of situations that define who "we" are. We have evolved to respond to contexts.

Our understanding of contexts is weak, and we flip between contexts with hardly a thought, nearly unaware of the change. We flip in behavior and we flip in words. (Words | language are part of elaborate and undefined behaviors in contexts. There are many appropriate responses to words, and many inappropriate ones.)

Contexts define us in that we learn who we are (and what is appropriate) in contexts.

Contexts is not (of course) the right word. (What philosophy word (a word for something we are hardly aware of and that is most likely beyond our simple comprehension) is.) I use the word contexts for the circumstances that form the setting for an event, statement, or idea, and in terms of which it can be fully understood and assessed.

Our first understanding of context involves physical surroundings, and in a literary context, the text or discussion that surrounds a certain sentence. We can generalize to say a context is "a fact or condition connected with or relevant to an event or action." So what is or is not relevant?

The word seems to have an etymology related to flooding. That is interesting but not resonating to what I want to sketch out.

It is hard to know what metaphorical image to use here. And a working hypothesis, mind processes|explores all at once

We make sense of things within not only context aware of but also within contexts we are not aware of. Some can be know. Language, air, Some can;lt. Some are uncomprehensible.

Situation is both a factual one in time and space, as well as experienced as a context. Some contexts come naturally. Just as air is a context for life, so is language use in human ability appropriate for one's age.
